The trek ranges from moderate to challenging depending on the location of the gorilla family. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended.
Visitors are allowed one hour with the gorillas once the family has been located.
Comfortable hiking boots, long trousers, a waterproof jacket, gardening gloves, insect repellent, sunscreen, a reusable water bottle, and a camera (without flash).
Gorilla trekking is available throughout the year, with the drier months of June to September and December to February generally offering easier hiking conditions.

This three-day safari takes you deep into the ancient rainforests of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife encounters awaits. Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe by your professional MJ Safaris Uganda guide.
Travel southwest through Uganda’s beautiful countryside, passing lush banana plantations, rolling hills, tea estates, and traditional villages.
Your first major stop will be at the Uganda Equator, where you can take memorable photographs, witness the famous water experiment, and browse locally made crafts and souvenirs.
Continue through Mbarara for lunch before driving into the spectacular highlands of southwestern Uganda. As you approach Bwindi, enjoy breathtaking views of terraced hillsides and dense rainforest.

Today is the highlight of your safari.
After an early breakfast, transfer to the Uganda Wildlife Authority headquarters for registration and a detailed briefing by experienced park rangers.
You will be assigned to a small group of no more than eight visitors before beginning your trek through the ancient rainforest in search of one of the habituated mountain gorilla families.
The trek may last anywhere between 2 and 8 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location, but every moment spent walking through the forest offers opportunities to observe birds, butterflies, monkeys, and unique plant species.
Once the gorillas are located, you will spend an unforgettable one hour observing them as they feed, groom, play, and interact naturally within their family group.
After returning from the trek, you may choose to relax at the lodge or participate in an optional Batwa Cultural Experience or community walk to learn about the indigenous forest people and local traditions.
